Ein Austausch zwischen Osaka und Hamburg.
Dies ist die zweite Ausstellung von Sasaoka in der Frise seit 2019. Komatsu stellt zum ersten Mal in der Frise aus.
Beide Künstler leben in Japan, sie arbeiten hauptsächlich im Bereich Installation. Die Frise pflegt seit 2019 die Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern aus Osaka, mit dem Ziel, ein Künstlernetzwerk zu etablieren. Beide Künstler werden in Hamburg übernachten und arbeiten und zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung anwesend sein.
ASAOKA Takashi
Since the 1980s, Takashi Sasaoka has been presenting works that manipulate elusive materials such as water, light, and heat in installations such as the „Water Series.“ The “ Luminous Series“ and “ Reflex Series“ express everyday materials from urban life, such as fluorescent tubes and floodlights, in different forms. He has had many exhibitions in Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, etc. He started CAS in 1998 with a few people. Since 2001, he has been the chairperson of the non- profit organization CAS. KOMATSU Toshihiro
Since studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Toshihiro Komatsu has shown extensively both internationally and nationally, including exhibitions at MoMA PS1, Queens Museum and Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. His work is about the relationships between built spaces he himself has encountered, the people who live and work there, and nearby environment. Using pavilion, sculpture, models, photography, painting, drawing and other media, he reconstructs the traditional spatial relationship between inside/outside and indicates different ways of seeing a single space. He is currently Professor, Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art, Kyoto Seika University, Kyoto, Japan.
