An Introspection of Architectural Spaces
Based on Walter Benjamin’s concept of the labyrinthine city and the figure of the flâneur, the Indian artist Parul Sharma deals with the specifically female reception of architecture and urban space. As artist in residence in Hamburg during India Week Hamburg 2021, Parul Sharma explores the complex structures of architecture and city:
Being a female how do I look at architecture and what kind of impact does this create psychologically as well as physically? As a female I find a close connection with my intimate spaces when I encounter the architectural spaces. How does a female individual perceive her own physical space for work, for her values, for her thoughts in today’s scenario? How do changing spaces shape my drawing?
